Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas as they search for their next Assistant Pastor/Pastor of Ministries. Eastminster is a mission-oriented, reformed congregation with a deep commitment to biblical teaching and discipleship. With a rich history in the Wichita community, the church is dedicated to making disciples both locally and globally, while fostering strong relationships within its congregation.


The Assistant Pastor/Pastor of Ministries at Eastminster will be a unifying and visionary leader, capable of navigating complex dynamics between the session, staff, and congregation. The pastor will be responsible for guiding the church, enhancing internal care for the members, and attracting and engaging the next generation of churchgoers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Pastor / Pastor of Ministries at Eastminster Presbyterian Church is a pivotal role focused on discipleship, evangelism, and spiritual formation. This pastor will be responsible for creating and leading a comprehensive discipleship pathway that spans all ages, equipping families and individuals to grow in faith and mission. With oversight of multiple ministry areas—including student, kids, young adult, connections, and discipleship ministries—this leader will serve as the “chief people developer,” mentoring staff, building unity, and strengthening Eastminster’s culture of spiritual growth and outreach. The role requires a balance of visionary leadership and relational presence, ensuring that the church community is both cared for and mobilized in fulfilling the Great Commission.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Discipleship & Formation – Develop and lead a clear discipleship pathway for all ages, strengthen adult education and small groups, and equip families for faith at home.
  • Evangelism & Outreach – Model and equip personal and corporate evangelism, build community partnerships, and foster a culture of mission engagement.
  • Leadership & Oversight – Supervise and mentor ministry staff, unify departments, and steward communication, collaboration, and ministry budgets. 
  • Preaching & Care – Preach and teach as needed, provide pastoral care and counseling, and build presence and trust across the congregation.
